On Saturday 13th December we sang our fourth concert for this month in St Hillary’s Church in Killay. It was also the third concert this week. Despite this demanding schedule and illness within the choir, it was heartening to see such a strong turnout.
The audience was treated to a varied and enjoyable programme, rounded off with a festive Christmas selection that brought the evening to a joyful close.
This year marked our fifth consecutive year performing at St Hilary’s – a church that holds particular significance for us, as it is where our long-serving Secretary, Alan, worships. Alan has carried out the role of Secretary for an incredible 23 years, and although ill health has kept him away from rehearsals this year, it was wonderful to see both Alan and his wife Carol in the audience.
The evening was made even more special when Alan returned to the ranks to join the choir for the final item – a truly moving
and fitting way to end the concert, and one that meant a great deal to us all.
We were also delighted to welcome Nabeel Mashi, who, accompanied by friends on cello and cajón, shared with the audience music that was both meaningful and thought-provoking – particularly apt during this reflective festive season.
