An enjoyable social and buffet first evening.\u00a0 A long day!\u00a0 Goodnight!\u00a0 \u2018O\u00edche mhaith\u2019<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dydd Gwener 2il Hydref,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>An early hearty breakfast for most! and off to Birr for a lunchtime concert.\u00a0 Did anyone miss the coach and have to travel by taxi?\u00a0 Oh yes!<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gwalia-swansea.co.uk\/cy\/1acf7cdc-11c8-484d-a52c-5a78559f898a\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10314\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/gwalia-swansea.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/1ACF7CDC-11C8-484D-A52C-5A78559F898A-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"405\" height=\"304\" \/><\/a>Arrangements were wonderful in St. Brendan\u2019s Church with a practice session and hall area for changing.\u00a0 The Gwalia Singers were indeed delighted to be part of the Birr Music Festival as fellow Celts and, importantly, the friendship connection with long-term chorister John Davies.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Deputy Accompanist, Gareth Widlake compered the event, and we gave a rousing rendition of \u2018Let All Men Sing\u2019 to start their first half programme,followed by popular \u2018Calon L\u00e2n\u2019 and \u2018Y Darlun\u2019.\u00a0 The Choir were truly on form, acoustics were great, the church was full and the audience showed their appreciation.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Gareth Widlake then introduced the Choir\u2019s history, acclaimed the accompanist &#8211; Rhian Liles, and our amazing Musical Director &#8211; Matthew Sims.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The Gwalia Singers followed on with the poignant \u2019Y Tangnefeddwyr\u2019, \u2018Will Ye Go Lassie Go\u2019 to the beautiful viola accompaniment by Gareth Widlake, and \u2018What would I Do Without My Music\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Talented soloist Dan Davies then performed 2 music theatre solos \u2018Til I Hear You Sing\u2019 and \u2018Bring Him Home\u2019.\u00a0 The response was immense!\u00a0 He received the well-deserved rousing applause and standing ovation!<\/p>\n<p><a style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" href=\"https:\/\/gwalia-swansea.co.uk\/cy\/oplus_1048576\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10315\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/gwalia-swansea.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Dan-D-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"363\" height=\"272\" data-wp-editing=\"1\" \/><\/a>The second half programme was the mighty \u2018There Is A Land\u2019, then \u2019<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=y8wLpHNYOjE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Danny Boy<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 and \u2018Can It Be\u2019, \u2018You Are So Beautiful\u2019 and the Choir\u2019s firm favourite \u2018Rhys\u2019 arranged by Deputy Music Director, Nick Rogers.\u00a0 For an encore we sang \u2018Fix You\u2019.\u00a0 The response again was truly incredible-lots of tears, praise and admiration!<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Huge thanks were given to the Gwalia Singers by the Vicar.\u00a0 Well done all!\u00a0 Dan Davies, Gareth Widlake, and the mighty duo of Rhian Liles and Matthew Sims.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Special thanks from all of the choir members and their partners to all who prepared soups and sandwiches following the Concert and, in spite of the inclement weather, we all managed to get to Kelly\u2019s Bar and enjoy a tipple before heading back to the Hotel.\u00a0 A quick turn-around, an evening meal and great entertainment in a local pub and Hotel until the early hours!\u00a0 Goodnight! \u2018O\u00edche mhaith\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dydd Sadwrn 3ydd Hydref,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Cawson ni fore hamddenol, tywydd hyfryd, ac ymarfer amser cinio yn yr Eglwys Gadeiriol yn Kilkenny ac yna prynhawn hamddenol yn yr haul.<\/p>\n<p>Cynhaliwyd cyngerdd y noson yn yr ysblennydd <a href=\"https:\/\/gwalia-swansea.co.uk\/cy\/st-marys\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10316\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/gwalia-swansea.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/St-Marys-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"368\" height=\"245\" \/><\/a>St.Mary\u2019s Cathedral, which was packed.\u00a0 We were joined for the concert by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=100064655353344&amp;sk=about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">C\u00f4r Meibion Castlecomer.<\/a><\/strong> Fe&#039;u ffurfiwyd ym 1984 a&#039;u cenhadaeth yw hyrwyddo a pherfformio cerddoriaeth gorawl a gwelliant a datblygiad parhaus.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After a warm welcome and initial introductions the Gwalia Singers sang 5 favourites &#8211; &#8216;Let all Men Sing&#8217;, &#8216;Calon Lan&#8217;, \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qyCutV7CYHA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Trwsio Chi<\/a>&#8216;,<\/strong> Y Darlun&#039;, a&#039;\u2019<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VLZc_3HADHs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Rhys<\/a><\/strong>\u2019Roedd yr acwstig yn anhygoel a&#039;r perfformiadau&#039;n rhagorol.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dan Davies then sung a solo presentation of \u2018This Is The Moment\u2019 a truly incredible performance and he received a huge round of applause and a standing ovation.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Canodd C\u00f4r Meibion Castlecomer rai caneuon hyfryd o&#039;u repertoire; &#039;The Last Rose of Summer&#039;, &#039;Speed Your Journey&#039;, &#039;Briar &amp; Rose&#039; a&#039;r g\u00e2n boblogaidd &#039;Its A Working Man I Am&#039;. Mwynhawyd y g\u00e2n hon yn fawr a chafodd gymeradwyaeth uchel gan bawb, yn enwedig y garfan o Gymru sy&#039;n canu hon fel rhan o&#039;u repertoire \u00f4l-g\u00e2n.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gwalia-swansea.co.uk\/cy\/performance\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-10323\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/gwalia-swansea.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/Performance-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"365\" height=\"274\" \/><\/a>After a short interval the\u00a0 Castlecomer Male Voice Choir returned to the stage to sing &#8216;Anthem&#8217;, &#8216;Yellow&#8217;, &#8216;Bring him Home&#8217; and &#8216;Soldier&#8217;s Chorus&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Dan performed his second song of the evening with a special delivery of music theatre \u2018Til I Hear You Sing\u2019 and every audience member stood up to commend him and show their appreciation.<\/p>\n<p>The Gwalia Singers then returned to the stage with a further selection of favourites; \u2018There Is A Land\u2019, \u2019Danny Boy\u2019,\u2019 And Can It Be\u2019, \u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Vx1aItJNsQo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>A Fyndwch Chi Lassie Go<\/strong><\/a>\u2019, and \u2018If We Only Have Love\u2019 &#8211; all well received and applauded.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>The Concert concluded with many thanks to all who organised the event, both Choirs, Dan &#8211; the soloist, Accompanists and Musical Directors for their incredible commitment and hard work.\u00a0 The Welsh and Irish\u00a0 Anthems were sung by the respective Choirs, a fitting finale to a truly wonderful evening in St.Mary\u2019s Cathedral.<\/p>\n<p>Cododd y cyngerdd hwn \u20ac5,625.29 a rannwyd rhwng y <span class=\"wixui-rich-text__text\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dillonquirkefoundation.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Sefydliad Dillon Quirke<\/a><\/strong> sy&#039;n gweithio i godi ymwybyddiaeth o Syndrom Marwolaeth Sydyn Oedolion (SADS) a\u00a0<b><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/coisnore.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Canolfan Cymorth Canser Cois Nore<\/a><\/strong><\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- \/wp:paragraph --><!-- wp:paragraph --><\/p>\n<p>Aeth y ddau g\u00f4r yn \u00f4l i Westy Kilkenny am fwffe a chyfeillgarwch &#039;ar \u00f4l y noson&#039;.
