Our Committee

A male voice choir is more than just the sound it creates on stage; it’s a community built on passion, camaraderie, and a shared love for song. The Gwalia Singers are no exception, and at the heart of our choir’s operations is a dedicated team of volunteers: our Committee.

These individuals, all singers themselves, give their time and expertise to manage everything from organising concert schedules and booking venues to managing finances and welcoming new members. They are the driving force ensuring that the proud tradition of Welsh male voice singing continues to thrive here in Swansea.

I am Adrian, a retired teacher who moved to Wales in 1979 with my wife. I taught for 23 years at Olchfa school. We have two children and three grandchildren. In May 2010 a chorister sold me tickets for the Gwalia Singers Annual Concert, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I decided that I would like to join the choir and became a full member of the choir the following November. I thoroughly enjoy singing, and get a buzz from performing well in concerts, weddings etc. I have made many friends from the choir who are always supportive if I need help. We do not take ourselves too seriously and there is always a lot of fun to be had. In my nearly 15 years with the choir I have visited many European countries and also Barbados, where we took part in their Celtic festival. I would recommend anyone to join the choir, just come along and give it a try, you will get lots of help and support. Singing with the Gwalia Singers is something special.

My name is Robert and I have been a member of Gwalia Singers for four years.l have recently been elected as chairman I live in Bishopston with my partner Julie. We have 4 children and 9 Grandchildren. I retired 14 years ago and I had it on my bucket list to join a choir and since joining the Gwalia singers I cannot emphasise how enjoyable and rewarding it has been. I cannot wait for the weekly Tuesday practice to come around. Having sang at various concerts and weddings I am now looking forward to the 60th anniversary concert in The Brangwyn Hall on 2026 I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys music and singing to come along on practice nights to witness the friendship and camaraderie within the choir.
